Belonging to One’s Own” comes from a series of photographs taken near Shiraho Beach on Ishigaki Island, part of the Yaeyama Islands of Japan. During the late hours in which no one else is present, what is witnessed are psychically charged spaces where the familiar and the everyday take on alternate identities.
