Roots #1 is a digital archival print based upon a photograph that I had taken of an interesting, exposed tree root formation. This is one image from a series I have recently created focused on trees, roots, vines, branches, earth formations and other materials found in nature. The patterns of the exposed roots in the soil and the layers of moss and fungal growth in the soil interests me. The direction of the roots burrowing deep into the ground powerfully grasps the trunk, which is partially shown in this image. The original colors in the photograph have been altered and built up in layers to create this image. There are multiple layers of lines, patterns, and colors. Roots #1 is printed on archival Epson Velvet Fine Art Paper using an Epson P700 printer with archival ink. It is part of an edition of 10 prints.
