 “It’s Worse Below the Surface”, 22” H x 30” W , acrylic on paper, 2018, $1,500

Barbara’s art is driven primarily by her interests in color, texture, shapes, and pattern. It is influenced by what she observes in the world around her, and is reflected in all of her work. While the work she creates is usually figurative, she likes to take a break to create abstract monotypes and paintings. These pieces allow her to work more freely, without the constraints demanded of recognizable objects, people and animals. She starts by sketching a rough design. As she develops the design as either a print or a painting, the image becomes more clear and kind of takes her where it will.  The titles are what comes to mind after the work is completed but she knows that viewers will interpret each piece in their own way.
