I started creating this piece before knowing about this exhibit in an effort to purge the feelings I have about this country. I have no words to describe the hatred, racism and bigotry that is rampant in what I see as a massive red sea that is the center of this country. I have no words to describe the deep disappointment in those who followed and continue to support a racist misogynistic demagogue in the name of patriotism. I have no words for my sadness about the many people who suffer the direct repercussions of the climate crisis, those who have lost their homes and loved ones to super storms and fires and still deny climate change. I see no safe roads to travel, nor sturdy enough boats to weather the sea of red between the north-east and south-west coasts of this country. I have no words to describe how it feels to be dependent on the resolution of a global pandemic so I can safely embark on a plane to be with my children who are 3000 miles from our family home
