   Artists try to express their personal connections to a subject.  These connections are often interpreted as feelings or opinions, but may in reality reflect the artist’s awe, amazement, or curiosity of the subject.
   Some people fear being underground, or under water for more than a few minutes.  This is understandable.
I express this fear in terms of isolation and deprivation in my painting of imprisonment in a dungeon below ground.  The idea of “Looking Out” shows the longing to be free, in the daylight and fresh air of the aboveground world, man’s natural world.
