These improvised drawings were an exercise in freedom in the face of fear and limitation – of travel, social engagement, etc. – during this time of COVID. They were informed by the instinctual knowing of the body untethered from mental control, and performed on waste paper – receipts, bills, scraps, magazine pages – with pens and flipchart markers; fragile, non-archival materials that resonate with the fragility and impermanence of life, especially now. These drawings blend humor, darkness, and an awkward search for connection in a manner that reflects the strange nature of life now.s
