I used my photograph of local graffiti for the inspiration of this piece. Although I took this photo several years ago, its poignant question is even more poignant in the current political climate. I like to use paper weaving in my work to symbolize the threads that make up the complexities of a culture, situation or personality. The red and blue represent our political parties , the question woven into the piece is the voice of the marginalized. Political dissonance, those in power ignoring the plight of a segment of the population they are elected to serve, the frustration of the population. This work speaks to all of this through color, line, and the graffiti itself.
