My work invites the viewer into private scenes of clandestine revelry, or quiet moments in an internal hidden garden. The landscapes are built from positive and negative spaces to both intertwine and separate the figures from their overgrown settings. I reduce figures to silhouettes, employing the ambiguity of abstraction to obscure their identities. They represent the erased and scrubbed identities societies shoves underground. In each piece submitted, my figures are either hidden away in some lonely yet serene underworld garden, or they are peering out from the liminal state between the underground and the visible world.
