I am based in Highland Park, NJ, but lived in ten cities prior. As a photographer, the physical, emotional, and spiritual displacement inherent in such migration pushed me to explore new ways of framing the sacredness of a place’s beauty. I take walks with an intentional sensitivity and openness to the environment, and document places where a particularly pronounced sense of lament and/or healing are present. This sense of displacement also translates into dreams where I walk into landscapes that are either mystical and filled with a sense of serenity and mystery, or cityscapes that are vibrant, bold, and chaotic. The former is reminiscent of traditional oil paintings and the latter is reminiscent of dystopian science fiction.
