“FDR Skate Park, morning” by Emilio Jose Maldonado

“FDR Skate Park, morning” by Emilio Jose Maldonado

My art is a reaction to daily life experiences, a need to share something that I cannot yet explain, or to say in another language what words fail to fully explain.

These pictures are born out of the fear that comes with isolation, about finding activities that take me out of home to create another, this time in transit and in a public space. I started going to the skatepark to fight the fear of sickness, to face the fear of falling, to face the possibility of losing my job due to COVID-19 and become homeless and while doing so I found a new sense of security.
