As a dark art atheist it may seem paradoxical that the Christian based artwork and architecture of the Renaissance and Baroque periods are what inspire me most. While ignoring religions dogma I concentrate on the fantastic and surreal imagery of its myth. The three drawings entered are a critique on certain aspects of the church that i’m reluctant to explain preferring the viewer draw their own conclusions, but this is a show that deserves a general statement so here goes…….
One of the many problems I have with religion is it often alienates those that don’t belong to their sect. It can become exclusive, divisive and dangerous when radical fundamentalists pledge a “Violent Devotion” to a vengeful god. We should reject anything that separates us from our common humanity.
