The images in my work originate from media sources – TV, internet, photographs and are digitally enhanced to create a collage, painting or installation. The stories in media are full of drama, of love and its counterpart violence. Can we have one without the other – how are they intertwined? Do the stories drive our humanity or do we drive the stories? The titles are taken from a show of a chorus singing Evangelical Christian songs, the lyrics transmitted on the screen: Man was destined to die, The blood he shed was written in red, The sky shall unfold, etc. I responded to the passionate drama of those lyrics, linking them to my own query of violent spectacle, masked in blind belief.
