I’m distressed, as I think many others are, by the increasing degeneration of personal and societal interactions around the world, and the effect that that has on our societal systems and institutions.  It is my view that disarray and disintegration will lead to a chaotic future if we are unable or unwilling to address the current sad state of our human and environmental conditions. The expression of this in my work is through images of the face – the focus of who we are and what we think and feel.  Each face represents the impact that the degeneration of societal interactions has on us as individuals – as well as the responsibility each must accept for societal deterioration.
My current images are created when I download an appropriate face from the internet.  I digitally create my file from the existing file, print it on paper, cut or tear the print, mount the pieces on paper and add gouache, acrylic paint, colored pencil, or graphite to complete the final image.
