Seven painting studies were originally conceived as designs for murals (unrealized) for the new construction of Flori-da International University College of Law in Miami. I began by considering, ‘what is fundamental to both Law and Art?’ Both decipher experience by means of balance and harmony—partly intuitive, partly facts—equally necessary. Within this intrinsic parallel, I would look at Truth in Art and Law. Palms, symbol of triumph and victory, each a unique pillar viewed against a changing sky in diverse contexts represent a condensed story of Law: self-examination, cross-examination and judgment. Or, simply, palm fronds fan our imaginations to dream of warmer climates, balmy nights, breezy vacations.
