What damage HASN’T organized religion caused? The abuse that the powerful have subjected helpless humanity to is legend; two millennia of clergy engineered hegemony have given society countless sanctioned genocides, wars, Inquisitions, witch burnings- and, thanks to the fortunes stolen and hoarded by the Vatican, the Church has subsidized nearly all of the greatest post-Christian/pre-modern Western art. Next up, water is wet.

Having been raised in and survived the Catholic Church – and in the spirit of It’s abuse and opulence – with this piece I have cast myself in the role of a Church indentured guildsman. I imagine that some overfed lecherous upward climbing Cardinal has given me the task of creating a ceremonial object – the Pontifex Maximus Ano Obturaculum – a gilded and bejeweled anal ramming artifact for the feast of the St. Butplugge, patron saint of the abuse clergy inflict against the weak and helpless in their flock. Amen.
